Showcase 2
A formal garden with a modern twist has brought a new dimension to a traditional brick Blue Mountains home. The front garden, originally dominated by Radiata pines is now filled with sun and the sounds of running water.
The client wished to create a formal entrance to the property and had already installed a brick and iron fence along the front boundary. Woodland Designs took the existing structures and linked them to the house by creating a wide stone-paved entrance path that descends two brick terraces to the front door. A modern twist was brought to the design by creating an angled corner in the main path and by offsetting the path to one side of the terraces. The result is a design with formality and a sense of dynamism.
The materials were chosen so as to create a strong connection between the house and the garden helping to create a unified and balanced design. Plants were chosen for their leaf texture, colour and low maintenance attributes.
A combination of computerised plan drawing and digital imaging techniques was used to develop a series of drawings and graphics that encapsulated all elements of the design. The detailed planting and construction plans allowed project to flow smoothly while the 3D graphics gave the clients an accurate impression of how their new garden would look.
The client is exceptionally pleased with the finished garden. Replacing the bare slope that remained following the removal of the pines there is now a stunning garden that is an impressive entrance to the property. The new garden is low maintenance, water-wise but stylish and will be enjoyed by the owners for many years to come.
