Showcase 1
The objective of this design was to create a piece of paradise. This has been achieved through the rediscovery of the creek that used to pass through the property.
The design is based on creating native and exotic woodland areas through which paths wander allowing visitors to discover the garden one section at a time. The highlight is the re-created stream. There are two large ponds, one at either end, connected by the stream as it meanders through the garden, settling in several smaller rock pools along the way.
The majority of the garden is only two years old. Advanced native plants such as Wollemi pines, Sydney Blue Gums (Eucalytus saligna) and Scribbly Barked Gums (E. haemostoma) have created the backdrop to the native woodland. Numerous tree ferns (Dicksonia antartica) and mass plantings of native ferns (Blechnum nudum and Doodia aspera) have been used along the edges of the ponds and streams .
The ponds and streams were constructed by Jim Coghill of Moat’s Art Landscapes. The design, supply of plants and planting were carried out by Woodland Designs. The garden is maintained by Woodland Designs.
